Over the past 15 years Edwin's portfolios of responsibilities have centred predominantly on driving businesses in high-potential markets, building multi-channel organisations and creating diverse business teams within key industries such as IT, Telecommunications, Banking and Packaging in Southern Africa, United States and UK territories.
Edwin is an experienced business development professional with a proven history of leading people and business units with a P&L, to successful results. Sustainable revenue growth has been achieved by building, fixing or growing business areas and creating a demonstrable track record of seizing business opportunities. Edwin's "professional channel” is a significant asset with extensive executive relationships in South Africa and across other global geographies. Edwin has accumulated a deep understanding of the mechanics of the industry in terms of routes-to-market, go-to-market, market segmentations, and the economics of customer needs.
Probably Edwin's most notable corporate achievement was in 2003 when he achieved the greatest sustained business unit growth rate over a three year period, was voted onto the board of American Chamber of Commerce and at the age of 33 was the youngest business unit leader in Unisys too.
Subsequent to various corporate roles Edwin has established and sold three small businesses.
His first company was WorldCup Business having contributed to the drafting of the 2010 Special Measure Bills in Parliament and advised several blue chip organisations during the build-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup which culminated in the sale of intellectual property to a multinational consultancy firm. Two more businesses have followed namely Taxi-TV and more recently Africa-connect. In the 1st year of operating he achieved astonishing growth of 80% above budget, no bad debt, an attractive portfolio of businesses including multi-nationals, and this against a market growth rate of 4%.
Edwin is considered by peers and clients to be a results oriented, inspirational business leader, strategic thinker and determined in execution. He is a proficient public speaker and a good “face to a business”. He enjoys the realisation of success, thrives on winning and likes to build teams to be successful.
Edwin schooled at Diocesan College (Bishops) in Cape Town, holds an MBA in strategy and marketing and was nominated as a FutureWorld Guru by Deloitte. He has held various board positions including the American Chamber of Commerce, South African Contact Centre Community (now BPeSA), SAVANT, Foundation for the Development of Africa and the Creative Alliance Group. His industrious career includes several blue-chip organisations namely; Nampak (6 years), Unisys (5 years), Barclays and Absa (3 years).
Through his industrious career he has amassed an extensive relationship network of seasoned professionals and honed his skills in the creation of sustained organisational growth velocity. Central to Edwin's success is his ability to identify and attract high performance talent and leadership to address the challenges of the business of tomorrow, today.
Edwin is now considering opportunities to apply this accumulated proven business development experience and leverage his professional network, within a larger structured organisation, to drive sustained growth.
He is happily married to Candice an internationally acclaimed entrepreneur, founder of Callforce and has been blessed with three wonderful children.
His motto is “choose your future or become a casualty of it”.
